James "Jim" Dowling Lord Iii

December 25, 1943 — May 3, 2022

James “Jim” Dowling Lord, III, 78, of Dalton passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2022.

He was the son of the late James “J.D.” Lord Jr. and Elizabeth Vick.

Jim was a member of Dalton First United Methodist Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and loved to fish and play golf. During his life Jim enjoyed flying, scuba diving, snow skiing and spending time with friends while running and traveling.

He is survived by his family that he loved more than anything else, his wife of 56 years, Rachel Lord; daughters, Kelly King (David) and Holly Richards (Del); grandchildren, Rachel, Olivia, and Madison King, Dylan Richards (Macie) and Kaylie Richards; great-granddaughter, Ruth Richards; sister, Judy Bledsoe; nephew and niece, Jeffrey Bledsoe (Emily) and Ashley Allen (Erin).

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday at Dalton First United Methodist Church. An area will be reserved for the Abundant Life Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 until 2 PM in the Atrium.
