James Eugene Watkins

James Eugene Watkins, 63, of Dalton passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Hamilton Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Mary Burgess Watkins.

Jim graduated from the University of Georgia in 1985 and had a passion for UGA football. Game Days were his favorite days of the year! He was devoted to his family and friends, including his law enforcement colleagues and his Zeta Beta Tau fraternity brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kay Turner Watkins; daughters, Kaitlin Mason (Andrew) and Lauren Watkins; granddaughter, Cecily Mason; brother and sister, Brent Watkins (Elaine) and Meredith Shaw (Mike); nieces, Jennifer Watkins, Jessica Watkins, Abbey Grant (Bradley) and Gracie Shaw; great nephew and great nieces, Michael Watkins, Dallas Kate Grant and Dillon Rose Grant.

A memorial service will be held at 4 PM on Friday, September 30, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Dalton. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:30-4 PM in the Atrium of the church.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Dalton Wednesday Night Meals to Friends at Home, P.O. Box 827, Dalton, GA 30722.
