Jamie McKoy Jones

Jamie McKoy Jones entered the Kingdom of God peacefully on April 22, 2025. She was 91. Born to Tom and Katherine McKoy in Roanoke Alabama she moved to Opelika as a small child. In 1946 the McKoys moved to Dalton. She married her “great love,” Bucky Jones in January 1957. Jamie and Bucky lived in Texas and Venezuela before settling back in Dalton. Jamie was an active member of ChristChurch Presbyterian where she served on various committees, taught many bible classes and was an Elder.

Jamie and Bucky loved Lake Rabun and made it home during their summers. Jamie held weekly “lake school” classes for the children on the lake and was instrumental in the beginning of “boat church.”

Jamie devoted her life to her family and her faith. She touched many lives with her gentle kindness and lived her faith as an example that helped shape many lives around her. She will be truly missed, but her joy of life, quick wit and spirit of faithfulness will always be remembered in many hearts and souls.

She is proceeded in death by the parents and husband. Surviving are her children Zoe and Bill Hudson of Fountain Inn, SC, and Doug and Patty Jones of Dalton Ga. Also surviving are her grandchildren Jordan Hudson and Carly Hudson also of Fountain Inn SC.

Services will be held at ChristChurch Presbyterian on Friday April 25, 2025. Visitation 11:00-1:00; funeral service 1:00; and committal at West Hill Cemetery following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ChristChurch Presbyterian Memorial Garden Fund, 510 S. Tibbs Rd., Dalton, GA 30720 or Lake Rabun Leisure Ministries, P.O. Box 703, Clayton, GA 30525.
