Jo Beatrice Lewis

Mrs. Jo Beatrice Lewis, 81, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023, at Quinton Memorial and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on May 16, 1942, in Dalton, Georgia, to the late William Chester and Lillie Mae Stinson King.

Jo was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and great-aunt. She was preceded in death by her daughter’s father, W.C. Lewis, as well as her sister and brother-in-law, Irene and J.C. Whisenant.

Jo was a 1962 graduate of Murray County High School. After high school, she worked in the clerical field. Beginning at Dalton Electric and retiring from Dalton Industrial Systems. After retiring, she worked part-time as the dining room hostess at Chick-fil-A on Walnut Ave. Jo never met a stranger and loved making friends of the regular and new customers. Jo enjoyed cooking and was known for her delicious meals, especially the desserts. She enjoyed gathering with her family and friends, especially during the holiday season. Jo was a devoted member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church for 50 years.

Jo is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kaye and Sherry Ogle; grandson and daughter-in-law, Brad and Shereen Ogle; grandson, Doug Ogle; great grandchildren, Riev Ogle and Leila Ogle; her brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Avis King; nieces and nephew, Karen Daves, Sharon Roels, Cinty Ward, Emily King Johnson, and Heath King, plus several other great nieces and nephews and their families.

The family would like to thank the staff of Quinton Memorial Health and Rehabilitation for the care and love they provide to Jo during her illness.

A funeral service will be held at Poplar Springs Baptist Church on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Reverend Neil Hasty and Reverend Bob Sampley. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the service hour. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
