John Edmond Duke

John Edmond Duke, 89, of Dalton passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Doreen Duke; mother of his children, Betty Ann Duke; siblings, Doloris Burkett and Buck Duke.

John was a member of The Church of God of the Union Assembly and spent most of his life working as a truck driver. He had achieved the milestone of becoming a 32nd Degree Mason.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Duke; children, Ronnie Duke (Connie), Donnie Duke (Kathy), Gail Smith (Paul), and Tammie Hewitt (Lynn); 10 grandchildren; great grandchildren; siblings, Sam Duke, Mary Ann Haygood, Martha Kennedy, Beverly Holbrook, and Daniel Duke.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Pratt officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 until 1. The burial will be in United Memorial Gardens with Mason Rights.

Bryce Duke, Kody Hammontree, Branson Hammontree, Clinton Duke, Steve Overby, Shane Quinn and Michael Smith will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Rodney Kennedy, Tony Gentry, and Michael Mallet.
