KATHRYN HARWELL HENDERSON
Kathryn Harwell Henderson of Dalton, Georgia, 94, died peacefully in her home on January 7, 2021. Her lifetime of love for Jesus was obvious from the love, assistance, smiles, and generosities she showed to so many. As a member of First Baptist Church of Dalton for 69 years, she taught Sunday School to four-year olds for many years and attended the Women’s Sunday School Class afterward. Volunteering as a Gray Lady (now called Red Cross Volunteer) at Hamilton Medical Center many years brought her much joy. As a very talented and unsung artist and gardener, she loved to involve her children and grandchildren in her hobbies and we all greatly treasure those memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin D. and Ola Moore Harwell; husband, James Gladney (Dick) Henderson; sons, James Marcus (Jimmy) Henderson and Bryan Leslie Henderson; brother, Franklin (Red) Harwell, Jr. and sister, Lillian Rose Henderson. Surviving are her daughter, Terri Neal (John) of Dalton; son, Russ Henderson of Crandall; daughter-in-law, Caryl Henderson of Calhoun; grandchildren, Jennifer Henderson of Hollywood, Florida; Kimberly Makepeace (Clayton) of Atlanta; Tyler Henderson (Ali) of Atlanta; Katy Eisert (Keith) of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Rob Neal (Ashley) of Lakeland, Florida; and three great-granddaughters she cherished: Caycie Neal and Evelyn and Vivian Eisert. She always stayed in touch with her best friend and sister-in-law, Laverne J. Harwell, who had always called her Kitty. It was always a joy to watch them together.
Our family wishes to express our deepest appreciation for the caregivers who brought Mom joy and provided such capable care and comfort for her. She openly loved and appreciated them and it was mutual. They especially enjoyed her sense of humor.
The family would also like to thank Dr. Eric Jensen, his staff, and Amedysis Home Healthcare and Hospice for making her transition comfortable.
Due to the Covid-19 virus, the family will have a private graveside committal service at Whitfield Memorial Gardens, officiated by Reverend Phillip Cannon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kathryn’s memory to First Foundation of the First Baptist Church of Dalton, P O Box 827, Dalton, Ga. 30722-0827.
We invite you to send a message of comfort to the family guestbook at lovefuneralhomega.com.
