Mrs. Kaye Cope Smith, 63 of Dalton passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, J.C. and Mary Ruth Mitchell Cope and her husband, Keith Smith.
Kaye was a lifetime resident of Dalton and was a graduate of Dalton High School and Jacksonville State University. Kaye served as Magistrate Court Judge of Whitfield County for over 30 years until her retirement in 2016.
She was a loyal fan of the Dalton High School Catamounts and rarely missed a football game. Kaye was a lifelong member of the Dalton First Baptist Church and was also active in Big Brother/Big Sister.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Laurie Cope, Larry Cope, and Bucky and Renee Cope all of Dalton; special sister-in-law Cathie Cope of Dalton; nieces and nephews, J.C. (Angie) Cope, Katie (Elden) Hasty, Hollie Cope, Mitch Cope, Tiffany (Nick) Gibson, Torey Cope and Taylor Cope; great-nieces and great-nephews, Kirk Martin, Katie Cope, Patti Cope, Hunter Hasty, Remi Hasty and Alex Gibson. She is also survived by Justin Suttles (Jamie Lee), whom she loved and cared for like a son and her beloved dog Angus.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 3 p.m. from Dalton First Baptist Church with Rev. Jonathan Barlow and Rev. Phillip Cannon Officiating.
Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.
