Larry Alexander Oakley

Lawrence Alexander Oakley III, age 81, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2021. He was born March 9, 1939, in Greensboro, North Carolina, the son of the late L. A. Oakley, Jr. and Sara Lee Oakley.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Jean F. Oakley. He is survived by his children Lynne Oakley Manley of Dalton and Christopher L. Oakley (Heather) of Jacksonville, Florida and by his grandchildren: Elizabeth M. Fisher (Matthew) of Acworth, Georgia, Eric L. Manley (Betsy) of Marietta, Georgia, Caroline K. Oakley of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, and L. Alexander Oakley IV of Jacksonville, Florida; great-grandchildren Jacob and Libby Fisher, and Victor, Eliana, and Isaac Manley; and siblings Lee Oakley (Soula) and Sally Oakley.

Larry spent his career at Shaw Industries, culminating in his role as Director of Industrial Relations. In his spare time, he enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing, woodworking and traveling. He was most proud of his family and enjoyed a circle of close friends.

Love Funeral Home is handling arrangements; a private gathering of family will take place to honor Larry once it is safe to do so. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of one’s choice are encouraged.
