“And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.”
John 16:22
Lewis Clayton Shaw, 56, of Rocky Face, GA left this world to join our Heavenly Father Tuesday, April 4, 2023. Born September 7, 1966 in Dalton, GA to Robert Evans and Anna Sue Hadaway Shaw, Clay was the youngest of four children. Clay graduated from the Darlington School in Rome, Ga and attended the University of Alabama.
Golf was a constant in his life. This began in his adolescence at his beloved home golf course, The Dalton Golf and Country Club. Like so many Dalton youth, Clay was trained by Lowell Fritz and his father, who taught him the game of golf and most importantly to play the game with integrity. Here he learned to be fair and honest and true to his friends and competitors alike, by whom he was both loved and respected. This would also serve him well professionally.
In 2009, Clay became the Vice President of Sales at Engineered Floors. Not knowing what the future of the company would be, Clay, along with his newest sales recruits, would be on the road finding new customers to support the initial offerings of EF. Over the years the company would grow and his role evolved requiring that much of his time be spent with the executive management team in Dalton. Clay moved back to Dalton to be closer to the business. Clay continued to serve as an executive of EF until his passing.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Michelle, their niece Kaymin Arrants and Godchildren David and Clay Cotton and Rob and Laney Leach. He is also survived by his father, Robert E. Shaw (Dottie), his sister Susan Young (Bill), brothers Robert E. Shaw Jr. and Thomas Tripp Shaw (Lisa), nieces, nephews and dozens of friends who all loved and held their husband, Godfather, son, brother, uncle and dear friend Clay in the highest regard.
Services will be Saturday April 8, 2023 at Christ Presbyterian Church, 510 S. Tibbs Road, Dalton, GA 30720. Visitation will begin at 11 AM in the Fellowship Hall followed by the Service at 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Clay’s memory may be made to the Whitfield Healthcare Foundation, PO Box 2584, Dalton, GA 30722 (HamiltonHealth.com/donate), designated for the Anna Shaw Children’s Institute or Hamilton Cardiovascular Institute.
