Surrounded by her loving family, Louise Morris Cheever, 87, of Dalton (formerly of Roanoke AL, Wisconsin, and Ft. Myers, FL.), passed away at Hamilton Medical Center on Sunday, January 9, 2022. She was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Cheever; her parents, Gordon and Bessie Morris; brother and sisters, Lois Hamm, Annie Jo Clegg, Alfie Boyette, Fargo “Bubba” Morris, Horace Morris, and Kathleen Morris.
Mrs. Cheever is survived by her daughter and sons, Vickie Dow (Ed), Dr. Bryan Cheever, MD, (Becky), Dennis Cheever (Olga Delagarza), and Tim Cheever (Barbara); grandchildren, Dixie Nielsen, Amber Goode, Dennis Cheever, Jr., Brianna Cheever, and Jillian Cheever; five (5) great-grandchildren; one (1) great-great-granddaughter; brothers and sister, George “Buck” Morris (Martha), Jerry Morris, and Macy June Waldron (Newton). Many nieces and nephews also survive.
The loving matriarch of her family and extended family, Mrs. Cheever left a legacy of love, grace, and compassion to all that family and to those who knew her. She was an active member and supporter of the Dalton Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
A memorial service and time of visitation will be held on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Dalton Seventh-Day Adventist Church for Mrs. Cheever with Pastor Chester Clark officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that any memorial contributions be made to Learning Tree School Worthy Student Fund (300 S. Tibbs Road, Dalton, GA 30720) or to the Whitfield Healthcare Foundation (P. O. Box 1168, Dalton, GA 30722). A memorial service and internment will also be held at a later date at Springfield Baptist Church in Roanoke, AL.
