Louise Babb Smith

**Louise Babb Smith and daughter, Nellena Fae Smith will be laid to rest at Whitfield Memorial Gardens. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, October 24, 2020.

Louise Babb Smith, age 91, passed away on May 18, in Dalton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Jacob Babb, Sr. and Nelle White Babb; her husband, Earl Martin Smith, Sr.; her daughter, Nellena Fae Smith; and her brothers, John J. Babb, Jr., William E. Babb, Earl F. Babb and Robert M. Babb.

Louise was born in Craig, CO, graduated from Dalton High School and attended LaGrange College. She was a member of the Girl Scouts for many years as a volunteer and troop leader, a long-time exhibitor at Prater’s Mill, and a noted quilter. Her genealogical interest produced a history of the Babb family. Louise received a Historic Preservation award from the Whitfield-Murray Historical Society and was a member of the Dalton First United Methodist Church.

Louise is survived by her son, Martin Smith, Jr. of Dalton; sisters-in-law, Ena Smith Moore of Stone Mountain, GA and Bernita Kuglar Babb of Craig, CO; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Whitfield-Murray Historical Society or the Prater’s Mill Foundation.
