Mrs. Mary Ellen Jackson, 79, of Dalton passed away Monday, March 26, 2018 at Emory Saint Josephs Hospital in Atlanta.
She was the daughter of the late Elmer and Ludell Bridges of Monroe , GA. and brother, Elmer
“Moe” Bridges of Albany, GA.
She grew up in Monroe, Georgia where she was the Drum Major for the Monroe Drum and Bugle Corp. from 1954-1956 and then raised her family in Dalton, Georgia. She found her calling in being a mother and grandmother and also enjoyed, and was active in her church.
Mary Ellen is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Marvin Jackson of Dalton, GA, son, Jay Jackson and his wife, Lori of Sandy Springs; daughter, Sherry Jackson of Chamblee, GA; daughter, Karen Whaley and her husband, Kelly and their children, Andrew Whaley and Allison Whaley of Cohutta, GA; son, Michael Jackson and his wife, Becky Jackson and their children, Ansley Jackson, Riley Jackson and Abby Jackson of Suwanee, GA; brother, Ricky Bridges of Bostwick, GA; she is also survived by many brother and sister in laws, nephews, nieces, cousins, and other close family and friends, all of whom she valued greatly throughout her life.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Dalton First Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Flanagan and Rev. Jonathan Barlow officiating.
The family will receive friends in the atrium of the church on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m.
Graveside services will be on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Center Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Gratis, Georgia.
