Mary Ruth Massingill

Mrs. Mary Ruth Massingill age 86 of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life 5/23/2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family after several years of declining health.

Mary was born October 2, 1936 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, a daughter of the late George Harrison and Lillie Mae Cain Goforth. She was also preceded in death by her husband Buel Massingill, her sister Betty Jones, her brothers Emmett Goforth and Raymond Goforth.

She is survived by her daughters, Libby Young (Randy) of Blue Ridge, Georgia; Deborah King (Dennis) of Augusta, Georgia; Lucinda Morton of Salt Lake City, Utah; Loretta Kilgore (Doug) of Chatsworth,  Georgia;  son Tommy Massingill (Cheri) of Ooltewah, Tennessee; she is also survived by her brothers, Clarence Goforth of Paris, Tennessee and Fred Goforth of Dalton, Georgia; sister Georgia Mae Walker (Donald) of Dalton, Georgia; she is survived by 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and cousins survive.

The family would like to give a special thank you Amedysis Homehealth/Hospice and to Penny Jackson and staff of Tender Loving Caregivers for all of their help and professionalism.

Services to honor the life of Mary Ruth Massingill will be held Saturday May 27, 2023, at 11:00 am from the chapel of Love Funeral home with Reverend Bruce Sloan officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at West Hill Cemetery in Dalton, Georgia, with her grandsons honored to serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Friday May 26, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Love Funeral Home.
