Mary P. O'Briant

July 30, 1949 — March 26, 2025

Mary P. O’Briant, 75, of Dalton passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

She was the daughter of the late W.C. and Leila Bowen Parks and was also preceded in death by her brothers, Larry Parks, Bill Parks, and Walter Parks.

Mary was a proud graduate of Dalton High School, class of 1967, and she was honored to be part of the first class of Dalton College. Throughout her life, she cherished the simple joys that brought her happiness—Mickey Mouse held a special place in her heart, as did her cherished trips to Savannah. Mary was an avid reader with a passion for cooking and singing, and she found joy in creative pursuits such as cross stitching and smocking. She enjoyed working at World Carpets and later for Shaw Industries as an Administrative Assistant where she made lifelong friends.

She is survived by her husband, Herbert O’Briant; children, Adrian Cherry (Michelle), Austin Cherry, and Rachel Green (Michael). Affectionately known as Mimi by her grandchildren: Leila Hudson (Zach), Joshua Cherry, Skylar Smith, Kalypso Jensen, Jacob Green, John Green, and Garrett Green; great-grandchildren, Warren Green and Sawyer King; brother, Gordon Parks (Judy); twin sister, Martha Hackney.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 PM prior to the service. Mary will be laid to rest in West Hill Cemetery.
