Melvyn Newton Metcalf

Melvyn N. Metcalf, 79, of Dalton, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at his home. He was preceded in death by his son, Kelly Metcalf; his parents, L. J. and Josie Metcalf; and his brother, Lindsey Metcalf.

Mr. Metcalf is survived by his wife of fifty-seven (57) years, Barbara J. Metcalf; daughter, Melissa Metcalf (J. R. Bishop); grandson, Von (Olivia) Hankins; great-granddaughter, Sky Hankins; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Sherrie Metcalf; and sister-in-laws, Pat Metcalf and Janette Carroll. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Melvyn’s family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Tapestry Hospice for the compassionate concern and care that was provided to him.

The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home from 12:30-2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2021. A private service will be held in the Chapel of the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society of Northwest Georgia, 1210 Veterans Drive, Dalton, GA 30721, or to Tapestry Hospice, 1089 Red Bud Road, NE, Calhoun, GA 30701.
