Michael "Mike" Marlin Townsend

Michael Marlin “Mike” Townsend, 75, of Dalton, GA, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Hamilton Medical Center. Mike was born on December 22, 1948, to the late Malvin and Christyne Townsend. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra B. Townsend, and his siblings, Donnie and Debra Townsend.

Mike is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Anton (Joe) of Frankin, TN, and his son, Greg Townsend (Carria) of Dalton; grandchildren, Jaxon Anton, Jacob Anton, and Jenna Kate Anton (all of Franklin, TN), Zach Rich (Aaliyah) Hailey Rich, Jaydien Harrison, and Greg Townsend, Jr. (all of Dalton); great grandson, Kayden Rich; brother, Ricky Townsend (Debby); uncles, Drennon Crutchfield (Mary Beth) and Billy Townsend (Joyce); nephews, Jeff, Drew, and Tanner Townsend; and special friends, Paris McDaniel, Shelia Miller, and Pat Washington. Many special cousins also survive.

A memorial service for Mike Townsend will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at Dalton First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends in the Church Atrium from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Honorary pallbearers will include coaches, former teammates, and golfing friends associated with Mike. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Northwest Georgia Fellowship of Christian Athletes or Followers of Jesus Ministries.
