Nell M. Rogers

January 23, 1927 — January 22, 2020

Nell M. Rogers, of Dalton, passed peacefully into her Heavenly Father’s arms one day shy of her 93rd birthday.  Nell was a kindhearted and generous mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a friend to many.  She loved gardening, reading good books, and helping others (be they human, animal or plant), and she never stopped learning. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Nell was born on January 23, 1927, to Knox & Gladys Mallory in Atmore, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert (Gayle) Mallory of Spanish Fort, AL, and husband, William H. Rogers

She was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for 50 years, was actively involved in Keenagers, and served faithfully for many years. One of her most important ministries in later years was mailing cards of encouragement to just about everyone. She was active in the establishment of Friendship House and a willing volunteer at various food banks, including the soup kitchen at Trinity. Nell worked at GA Legal Services and in the administrative offices of Dalton Public Schools before retirement.

Survivors include four children, Chris (Lily) Rogers of Santa Rosa, CA, Vicki (Maynard) Higgins of Dalton, Laura (David) Blevins of Ringgold, and David (Helen) Rogers of Dalton; eleven grandchildren, Chris (Rachel) Higgins, Chris Blevins, Sage (Dave) Kincaid, Katy (Brian) O’Neill, Zac (Kate) Rogers, Ryan Rogers, Jaime (Steve) Dwight, Abram (Elizabeth) Rogers, Elspeth (Miguel) Rogers, and Carly (Justin) Blevins, Ricardo Rodriguez, Eduardo (Johanna) Rodriguez; twelve great-grandchildren, several nieces & nephews, and her cat, Gracie.

Special thanks to Community Hospice for their exceptional, compassionate services and support.

The funeral service to honor the life of Nell Rogers will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Methodist Church, 901 Veterans Drive, Dalton with Ash McEuen & Mark Millican officiating. Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as honorary pallbearers.
