Priscilla "Pat" Lane Fowler Gibson

June 7, 1941 — July 31, 2021

Mrs. Priscilla Lane “Pat” Fowler Gibson, 80, of Dalton, passed away Saturday morning, July 31st peacefully in her sleep at her home.

She was the daughter of the late Ernest Jefferson and Bernice Metcalf Fowler and was preceded in death by her sisters, Ernestine Barber and Vivian Fowler; brothers, Ray “Frog” Fowler, Dewitt Fowler and Derrell Fowler.

Pat was a 1959 graduate of Dalton High School, where she was Homecoming Queen and Head Majorette of the Dalton Catamount Marching Band. She was also a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Dalton, where she served in various roles through the years, including High School Sunday School teacher, Girls in Action and Acteen leader, and New Member Committee.

Her sweet smile, friendly personality and secretarial skills landed her many jobs in local businesses, including Coldwell Banker Kinard Realty, Belk Realty, Professional Eye Associates and Dr. Bates Bailey’s Practice.

Pat served as “Queen Mum” of her “Sassy Southerners” Red Hat Society Chapter for many years. She also reignited her love of tap dancing as a member of the local MarSel Dancers. It brought her great joy to perform and dance for others in the community.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Jerry Gibson of Dalton; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Charlie White of Dalton; grandchildren, Chase White, Sam White and Ava White, all of Dalton; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Richard Wynn of Jasper, GA and Steve and Cindy Gibson of Clarkesville, GA; sister-in-law, Gayle Gibson of Woodstock, GA; nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would also like to acknowledge and say thank you to her wonderful group of caregivers.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4th at First Baptist Church of Dalton with the Reverends Jonathan Barlow, Phillip Cannon, and Larry Flanagan officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 until 4:00 in the Church Parlor. Pat will be laid to rest in West Hill Cemetery.
