Roger Phillip Pressley, 73, of Dalton went home to his Lord and Savior on March 13, 2022.
He passed peacefully at home with his family surrounding him. He was the only son of Wrextle Walter and Lorraine Bowman Pressley of Knoxville, TN
Roger was a graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan College and was a member of Pi Kappa Phi social fraternity. He later received a Master’s Degree in Secondary Vocational Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1975. His teaching career spanned 32 years in Georgia and Tennessee.
Independence Day, July 4, 1969, Roger enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served in the Marine Active Reserve for six years.
Roger was as tough as shoe leather, but kind of heart. A real gentleman, but a bit on the shy side. Wise to the ways of nature, and self-reliant.
Roger’s hobbies included fishing, camping, wood-working and University of Tennessee football.
Roger loved the Lord and was a member of Rock Bridge Community Church.
Roger is survived by the love of his life Janice Marr Pressley and their children: sons and daughters-in-laws, Jonathan and Felicia Pressley of Calhoun, GA, Nathan and Laura Pressley of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Sydney, Samuel, and Mary Beth Pressley of Dalton, GA; sister-in-law, Joyce Marr Dorman (Robert) of Evans, GA; two nieces; two cousins of Raleigh, NC; special friend, Barry Jennings of Dalton, GA.
The family requests memorials be made to Rock Bridge Community Church, 121 West Crawford Street, Dalton, GA 30720.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home from 3 until 6 PM on Friday. A memorial service will follow in the chapel at 6 PM with Rev. Alfred Turley officiating.
