Ruth Craig

Virginia “Ruth” Cate Craig, age 94, of Dalton, passed away July 29 , 2019.

She was born in Ocoee, Tennessee, to parents Grover C. and Annie Howell Cate. One of five girls, she was a lifelong resident of the Chatsworth and Dalton area.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Therlow Craig; sisters, Jean Vick, Mary Jo Parrott, Martha Sue Vining and Margaret Cate; brothers-in-law, Judson Vick and R. L. Parrott; niece, Judy Ware; nephew, Tommy Vick.

Ruth graduated from Murray County High School and pursued a career as a secretary with Proffitt Textile Co. Later, she worked alongside her husband in their dry cleaning business, Orchid Cleaners.

Survivors include her daughter, Jane Craig Cochran of Dalton; grandsons, Craig Cochran of St. Simons Island Ga. and Nathan Cochran of Dalton; brother-in-law, Robert Vining, of Dalton; nieces, Laura Orr and Susan Parrott; great-nieces and nephews also survive.

Services for Ruth will be held Wednesday at 3:00 in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Rev. Ash McEuen and Rev. Heath Morton officiating.

Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends prior to the service Wednesday from 1 until 3 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to The Alzheimer’s Association (922 E. Morris St. Dalton, Ga. 30721), The American Cancer Society (3380 Chastain Meadows Parkway Suite 200, Kennesaw, GA 30144) or Trinity United Methodist Church (901 Veterans Dr Dalton GA 30721).
