Sanford Elbert Dover, 90, of Dalton passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2020.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Sanford Dover; parents, Charles and Hassell Dover; siblings, Charles David Dover, Betty Ward Dover and Conrad Hale Dover.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Black Dover; son, Douglas L. Dover; nephews, Rev. Chris Dover (Rhonda), Dr. Fred Simonton III (Mary Alice) and Donald Dover (Brenda); niece, Anna Black Morgan.
He graduated from Central High School in 1948 and then went on to serve 4 years in the US Air Force. He began school at the University of Tennessee in 1952 and graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He retired after working 35 years with IBM Corp., was a guest lecturer in Master of Science, Computer Information Systems program at Georgia State University, worked 4 years with Georgia Pacific and 14 years as a tour guide at Ruby Falls. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Dalton.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
