Stuart Roberts of Rocky Face, GA, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away peacefully of natural causes on March 27 th . He was 101 years old.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, Stuart and Jeannette Roberts and his sister Jeannette, “Lodi” Kaufmann of Bermuda.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Roberts, and children Nita Lee Roberts, and twins, John Roberts, and Jane Roberts. And his grandson, Brendan Roberts.
He loved and was loved by the congregation of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church where he attended for almost 40 years.
The family expresses deepest appreciation to our devoted caregivers and friends.
A celebration of life service will be delayed due to the current situation. The family will announce a service at a later date.
Stuart was born in Bermuda in 1918 and went to work for the Bermuda Electric Light Company briefly before moving to New York to study at the Roosevelt Field Aviation School. Then, during WWII, he flew as a flight engineer for the Royal Air Force Ferry Command transporting PBY and B24 aircraft from Canada to England. From 1947-1982 he worked as a flight instructor for Pan American Airlines on Long Island and Miami, Florida. . He retired to Rocky Face, GA, trading in his sailboat for a tractor. He had a lifelong love of sailing as well as spending time with family and friends.
