Susie Mae Cooper

Mrs. Susie Mae Cooper, 88, of Dalton passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Winfred Cooper in 2004; parents, William and Ethel Boyd Blackwell; brothers, Edward Blackwell, J.C. Blackwell, Buck Blackwell, Sammy Blackwell and an infant sister.

Susie attended Whitfield Baptist Church and was retired from J.C. Penney after 38 years. She also ran Coopers Grocery with her husband Winfred as well their store at Praters Mill.

She is survived by her son, Gary Cooper of Dalton; grandchildren, Lacy (Adam) Long of Chatsworth and Stacy (Gina) Cooper of Dalton; great-grandchildren, Haley (Tyler) Newton, Tyler Cooper, Trent Cooper and Lakelyn Long; sisters, Mildred Parker and Mary Lankford both of Dalton, Doris Brown, Lela Stanley all of Chatsworth; brothers, Lamar (Gwendolyn) Blackwell of Tunnel Hill and Doyle Blackwell of Dalton; nieces and nephews.

Services will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Whitfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Cofield and the Rev. Ronald Guffey officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Cohutta.

The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Wednesday after 5 p.m. and on Thursday.
