Terrell Randall Holtzclaw, 82, passed peacefully into Heaven on Saturday, April 12, 2025, with his wife and family by his side. Born and raised in Dalton as the only child of Roy and Alice Holtzclaw, his kindness touched countless lives, leaving a legacy of love and generosity.
A 1960 graduate of Dalton High School, he is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 62 years, Carole Holtzclaw. Their love story and devotion to each other was one that started even before high school and lasted a lifetime.
Terrell is survived by his three children: Shawn Holtzclaw (Anne), Traci Cleveland (Carter), and Tad Holtzclaw (Krista). He was adored as “Pops” by his grandchildren: Nate Holtzclaw (Courtney), Katie Holtzclaw, Sam Holtzclaw, Cassi Cleveland, Kelli Cleveland, Rand Holtzclaw, and Claire Holtzclaw; and by his three great-grandchildren: Liam, Noah, and Matthew Holtzclaw.
His love and care were impactful to his much larger extended family, including Carole’s many brothers and sisters and their families, many uncles, aunts, nephews, and cousins, including his special relationship with his Aunt Kate and Aunt Helen who helped raise him when he was young. A special thank you to a family friend and caregiver Teresa.
Everyone who knew Terrell knows he was full of wisdom, love, and laughter. His optimistic outlook on life and quick wit were a blessing to all those around him, as was his generous spirit in helping his extended family and many others. An entrepreneur at heart, Terrell founded several businesses throughout his career. Terrell also found joy in retirement, building memories traveling the world with Carole to capture the beauty of nature through his passion for photography. Most importantly, he had a deep and meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ.
He leaves a legacy of love and kindness to many families and generations.
A reception will be held for the celebration of Terrell’s life at The Farm in Rocky Face on Friday April 18 from 2:00-4:00 pm.
Condolences and messages of sympathy for Mr. Holtzclaw's family may be expressed through Love Funeral Home's online register book.
