Thomas "Tom" William Mitchell

Mr. Thomas “Tom” William Mitchell, 88, of Dalton passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Hamilton Medical Center.

He was the son of the late Homer and Ethel Mailings Mitchell and was preceded in death by his wife, Earline Medley Mitchell; grandson, Graham Scott Mitchell; sister, Myrt Mitchell and brother, Robert Mitchell.

Tom was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dalton and American Legion Post 112.

Tom was a Christian who loved to teach the Bible. He was a Sunday School teacher and had an amazing voice, he loved to sing.

Tom is survived by his wife, Myra Tyson Kinney Mitchell of Dalton; children and their spouses, Karen Mitchell Merck and Derrick of Atlanta, Susan Mitchell Aylestock and Sam of Royersford, PA and Scott Mitchell and Sandy of Douglasville, GA; grandchild, Jamie Aylestock Allen and Trevor Allen; 3 great-grandchildren; extended family, Kelley Kinney Mahoney and Mike Mahoney of Dalton, Karen Kinney Griggs and Carl L. Griggs of Villanow, GA; 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Cannon, Rev. Scott Mitchell, Rev. Jonathan Barlow, and Rev. Sam Aylestock officiating.

Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral on Friday from Noon until 2 PM.
