Vernon Eaton

December 6, 1929 — December 23, 2021

Mr. Vernon Eaton, 92 , of Dalton passed away on December 23, 2021 at Hamilton Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents,  Zemeri Hill Eaton Sr and Ethel Cook Eaton; wife, Mollie Sue Eaton; several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his daughter, Jeaney Baker; son, Rick Eaton (Gina); grandchildren, Emily Earley (Eddie), Jacob Baker (Bridget) and Josh Eaton; brother, Hill Eaton (Charlotte) and sister, Virginia Gilbertson.

He is also survived by his wife of 8 years, Shirley H. Eaton; daughters, Mary Young (Jeff) and Angela Burgess (Ernie); grandchildren, Alex, Megan, Rachael and Kristal; seven great-grandchildren also survive.

Vernon was a member of Salem Baptist Church. He served in the Army during the Korean War and attended reunions for 20 years with the great men he served with. Vernon owned Eaton’s Cafeteria in Dalton and was an excellent cook. He built homes until he retired and farmed until last year. Vernon was the oldest  man to zip line in Costa Rica at the age of 81.

The family will receive friends at Salem Baptist Church on Monday December 27 th from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Services will be immediately following visitation at 1:00 pm with Rev. Darey Kittle and Rev. Randy Postell officiating. Love Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
