Wendell Ricky Pierce

Mr. Wendell R. Pierce, age 71 of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life, Sunday April 23, 2023, at his home. Wendall was born Tuesday July 24, 1951, Ellijay, Georgia, the son of the late James Taylor and Ella Davenport Pierce. He was also preceded in death by his brother Randy Pierce.

After over a yearlong battle with brain cancer, Wendell finally succumbed to the disease and is now cancer free in Heaven. He was a devoted husband of 53 years and a loving Dad. Wendell loved wood working and would make crosses with the inscription of John 3:16 on each cross. He always kept several crosses in his pocket and would hand them out to random strangers that he felt led to give them to. He was an avid fan of sports and spent many years coaching and supporting his sons from T-Ball and up. He touched many lives in the community along the way. This love carried over to his passionate support for his Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves.

Wendell is survived by his wife Donna Hawkins Pierce, sons, Craig and Cherish Pierce, Blake and Amy Pierce; grandchildren, Jackson and Brittany Corbin, Grayson Pierce, Brady Pierce, Grace and Jackson Bell, Jade Pierce, Allie Pierce, Blakely Pierce, Elly Pierce; great-grandchildren, Jhase and Ezra; brothers, David and Jesse Pierce, Harold Pierce, Freddy and Shelia Pierce; sisters, Carmen Fernandez, Angela and Brian Groenhout, also several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Wendell R. Pierce will be held, Wednesday April 26, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with Reverend Carll Converse officiating. Interment will follow the service at West Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends, Wednesday April 26, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour at 3:00 p.m. at Love Funeral Home.
