William Bobo Majors, II passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022, near his home in Dalton, Georgia.
Bo was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on March 6, 1962, to the late William Bobo Majors, Sr., and Linda Majors Tunnell and was preceded in death by his stepfather, Gary Lynn Tunnell. He is survived by: his brothers and sisters-in-law Mark and Heather Majors, Andy and Kristin Tunnell, and Ben and Brandy Tunnell; his former wife and mother of their children Miriam Harney Majors; son and daughter-in-law Bill and Lizzie Majors; daughter and son-in-law Grace and Whit Shofner; his two grandchildren Mira and Jed Shofner; and numerous cousins; nieces and nephews.
Mr. Majors was born to a family that excelled in sports and particularly in his beloved game of football. In keeping with the family passion, Bo also excelled at football, playing defensive end for some of the great Dalton High football teams and being named all-conference after his senior year in 1980. Bo was committed to continuing football at the next level. He initially attended the Tennessee Military Institute prep-school where he played with some fantastically talented (but academically challenged) players. Bo then transferred to Memphis State University where he had the good fortune to play under a former teammate of his father and also was able to play against a University of Tennessee team coached by a highly respected uncle. Realizing that he probably lacked the speed (but not the strength or fight) to play Division I-A consistently, Bo then transferred to Austin Peay State University. At Austin Peay, Bo played on teams having outstanding defensive units, with Bo as inside linebacker being the leading tackler his Junior year with 98 tackles and 12 sacks and Senior year with 116 tackles. Bo in particular had a dominating game in their upset win against the then-second ranked team in the nation, Middle Tennessee State University.
Bo loved the game of football and loved inspiring youth to play as well. He helped to inspire and encourage many children in the Frank R Mullins Youth Football League.
While at Austin Peay, Bo had the good fortune to meet his future wife, Miriam. Miriam would prove a blessing and Godsend for Bo, with them having two wonderful children. Bo had numerous jobs over his adult life, but especially appreciated the support of, and working for, Russell Barnett of the Russell Barnett Automotive Family in Tullahoma, Tennessee, and also worked for numerous years locally in sales at West Yellow Knife Trading Post.
Bo died doing what he loved - - pushing the limits of both himself and his motorcycle into a curve following a ride in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains. He believed in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A graveside service will be held at 1 PM CST on Wednesday in Lynchburg, Tennessee where he will be buried next to his father Bill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Frank R Mullins Youth Football, c/o Traders Bank, PO Box 1000, 120 N Jackson Street Tullahoma, TN 373888.
