William Hicks

William Hicks, 76, of Dalton, GA, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Hamilton Medical Center, in Dalton.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Caleb and Cora Hicks; three brothers, Henry, Lindy, and Tommy; and two sisters, Gracie and Eleanor.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 20 years, Leslie Hicks; adoring stepchildren, Amy Essletzbichler (Jurgen), Theresa Pena (Jerry), Nicholas Gaglia (Iva), and Eva Phillips (James); and dear step-grandchildren, Leo Essletzbichler, Thomas Phillips, Freda Phillips, and Bowie Gaglia. Also, esteemed brother, Bob Hicks (Maria). Also, cherished nephews and nieces including Frank Renna (who was like a brother to Bill), Robert Hicks, and Barbara Chilutti (Joe); and beloved great-nieces and great-nephews including Deborah Bolte, Frances Renna, Francine Horn (Corey), Carol Bolte, Tiffany Bolte, Brianna Nieves, Robert Renna, Matt Renna (Christine), Chris Renna (Taylor), Mason Renna, and C. J. Brash. Also, dear friends, Gary, Stacey, and Jacey Nelson, who were like family.

Bill was a wonderful, awesome, amazing man who will forever be cherished and missed. He was a loving husband, stepfather and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was a man of strong morals and religious convictions. He always thought of others. He would do his utmost to help people out. Bill also had a great sense of humor. For around 40 years, Bill was a machine operator at Tuftco, in Dalton. Hunting was his favorite leisure activity.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date to be announced.
