Wimberley Cagle Sims

July 17, 1943 — May 30, 2020

Wimberley Cagle Sims, born August 17, 1943, was the beloved bride of Bill Sims, and they enjoyed 54 years of marriage together. Wimberley went to be with Jesus on May 30, 2020. She is survived by her daughters, Windy Sims Barron and husband Will of York, SC, and Karen Sims Turner and husband Henry of Atlanta; grandchildren, Mollie Barron Mylander and husband Nate, Sidney Barron, and Ivy, Austin, and Brooks Turner. She also leaves behind her brother Robert (Patty) Cagle, and many nieces, nephews, family, and a lifetime of precious friends.

Wimberley was born in Atlanta, GA where she began her love of dance and was a student in the Atlanta Civic Ballet Company where she perfected her art. She majored in dance at Texas Christian University and returned to Atlanta to dance as a soloist in the Atlanta Ballet. She met Bill at Theatre Under the Stars in Atlanta, where they both performed. They joined Campus Crusade for Christ staff in 1973, and served in Atlanta, southern California, and then settled in Dalton, GA where they continued to serve with Campus Crusade’s Jesus Film Project for the last thirty-five years.

The joy of Wimberley’s life was being More-Mommy to her five grandchildren.  She loved colors, painting, drawing, and art of all kinds.  She cultivated a deeply kind and compassionate heart, and she shared it with those around her.  She was a member of Fellowship Bible Church where she enjoyed, worship, Bible studies, and lifelong friendships.

Our family knows how much many of you loved Wim, and we know so many want to be with us, hug us, and honor her with your presence. However, during this unique time in our world of social distancing, especially those at risk in any way, as Wimberley often said, “Please take good care of you!” and tune in with us on-line.  We will live stream her celebration of life service at youtube.com/fellowshipbiblechurch at 1:00 p.m..

The service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on June 3 rd at Fellowship Bible Church (2044 Dug Gap Rd.).  Social distancing procedures are in place and masks and air hugs will be appreciated.
