Winfred Whaley

Winfred Whaley, 93, of Dalton passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

He was the son of the late Preston and Ethel Whaley and was also preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Lee Whaley and siblings, Dorothy Cooper (Henry), Clinton Whaley (Evelyn), Beulah Gallant (Bert), Ralph Whaley (Lorraine), Grady Whaley, Freeman Whaley (Lillian), Lois Summey (Gene), Coy Whaley (Child) and Betty Nelson (H.B.).

Winfred was a veteran of the United States Army and a lifelong member of Deep Spring Baptist Church. Before retirement he worked at Bowater in Calhoun, TN for 40 years. Winfred enjoyed farming and tending to his garden and cattle.

He is survived by his sons, Gary Whaley (Teresa) and Terry Whaley; grandsons, Ethan Whaley and Tanner Whaley; Tanner’s mother, Kim Whaley; great-grandchildren, Wrenly Whaley and Ian Whaley; brother and sisters-in-law, Lenard Whaley (Bernice) and Carole Whaley; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Dr. Bobby Sneed officiating. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 112. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 AM until 2 PM. Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
